self resurface;

Whoa. I've been absent from this blog for so long, I didn't even notice that Google changed the whole Blogger logon, with a new beta, Google automatically logging me on with my Gmail account (how did that happen?), ... whatever, I had left the planet for a month, spending time in California, no email (not much anyway), no voicemail, nothing. Kinda refreshing, if there weren't temperatures of 110F every once in a while. Luckily, there is the Pacific Ocean and it's still been cold.

After a week in South Africa for Gartner Symposium, I'm again in the midst of things, trying to catch up with all the new market developments, more acquisitions, and so on. More about that later. Right now, I'm wondering whether I should convert to Apple Mac. I almost bought a little Mac Mini when I spent an afternoon at Fry's in San Jose, but didn't dare to buy another box. I admit, the MacOS (Jaguar, Tiger, Leopard, what's next, Cheetah?) was always much more appealing than anything else and I skinned my Windows XP for a while. But I think I'll soon get the real thing. My friend Frank will be very happy.

Have you seen the Apple Time Machine? Isn't this already reason enough to buy a Mac? Travelling through time (only back in time, I should add, even Apple can't predict the future) and getting every document, contact, application, mp3 file, anything back is one cool application. Why didn't any of the storage vendors have that idea?
